David Lord is the steak on that site. Fish isn't even the sizzle or the table cloth. He's the annoying happy birthday song going on two tables over.

Mike's whole coverage of the DUST chip always looked fishy to me...
That said, I really like the man's work and also like to remind us of our gullibility. Making somebody the scapegoat for our frustration is easy and convenient, but it's us who should think long and hard before we swallow everything. (..would like to say now that I really found that out the hard way, but I didn't... )

I truly can't express just how stupid and self-serving it is to put "and the 75-member staff" within every single article written over there. They actually have decent enough opinions and coverage, but then they just shit on it with over the top LOOK AT ME stuff. It actually makes it very, very hard to read as a result.
To continue with the steak analogy - Fish's extra BS is like taking a london broil (by no means a GOOD steak to begin with) and throwing mustard on top of it.

His "75-member staff" reference is clearly irony, Dan, and not intended to serve himself or make anyone with a reasonable IQ believe that he has a huge team around him. It's a self-depricating dig at his own low-budget one-man show, probably indeed going back to the days when it was basically just him and a domain.
Holding even his irony against him makes us look worse than him.

First of all, I understand that he doesn't have a 75-member staff - I think anyone with any intelligence at all knows that very, very well. Hell, I would be suprised if there are 75 members on the FoxSports.com website. That isn't my point. My point is that constantly saying that is very ego-driven in the way he does it and it is not something that comes off as even remotely done for laughs. If it is, guess what, it rubs myself and many others wrong. Like salt, jokes are good when used sparingly.
So take the digs at me (anyone with a reasonable IQ, clearly irony) and pass them to someone who gives a shit. He is a horrible writer with horrible grammar and who pats himself on the back far, far too much for my liking. You may take that as irony, and he may in fact be trying to push that envelope over, and over, and over again; however, if you do it THAT much you are either STUPID or you actually believe it. You pick. Is he stupid, or does he believe it? Either way, he is stupid.

Dang Dan, tell us how you really feel.
I personally think he has improved greatly over the last few years in his writing, and he is probably the closest to the inner circle of information for the Mavs that I have read.
Yes, he is a little too much "pat himself on the back" at times. Yes he promotes his store everyday and basically every article (not that I blame him) -- but Misti Mav is at least eye candy.
His information though is usually spot on and first to the scene. DLord has made it even nicer for me because he actually seems to research and know the CBA and how things can work.
I enjoy reading db.com much more now than 6-8 years ago. I guess, to each his own.
I am not sure why all the flack is sent towards Fish -- he was correct in all he posted that was "possible" -- the fact that what happened with Dust was a little underwhelming I don't see as on him. I do agree that he built up the Dust though for it to crumble down instead of making a huge splash.

Fish broke the 1st rule of being a Mavs fan: never abandon the underdog mentality!
(this franchise doesn't fare well as front runners...)

UD, haven't you learned anything from reading through this thread? Shameless self-promotion of your own brand only arouses the ire of your fellow Mavs fans. Stop it already.

I'm sorry Dalm but his writing just pisses me off. He does tend to have pretty good information but it is surrounded by self promotion, back patting, and poor grammar. That is tough to constantly maneuver through.
To top it off, his site was basically all I had during the "2010 Dallas-Mavs.com Outage" and that forced me to read his website regularly. Normally I manage to read comments from other people on here saying something like "Fish said ......" and I get the content without having to read the promos/patting/grammar.
But yeah, to each his own.

Either that or Fish wanted us to think that he had a fan and created another account under the fishforlunch name..
I find it hard to believe that anyone liked Fish enough to create an account under the fishforlunch name.. unless they were/are related to the guy or it was the guy to begin with.

It's all because of the f'n TPE's. There is also Lebron. And D-Whistle AKA. douche whisperer. And of course Salvatore. I'm really funnier in my native language. Murphy, your blog needs some serious work, you don't have a single post man.

from db.com a few days ago:
"It’s a human weakness.
Something that I like or believe in causes you to resent it, and me, because my likes and beliefs conflict with yours. Your distain for my views and your personal attacks on me are not a reflection of your convictions; rather, they reveal your immaturity and insecurity."
lol... okay, Fish.

btw, as if the self promotion in each batch of "donuts" wasn't bad enough, he's including it in his regular articles now. Scroll down to the midway point.

It happens everywhere, even on websites and in newspapers or magazines that we pay for. Fish has to make a living, and quite honestly, I have no idea how he gets it done with his not-really-state-of-the-art website.

Hey, Fish has better Mavericks information and analysis than any other news source bar none!!!!! Mark Stein would likely come in second, but Fisher and David Lord have such an interesting site that it is basically my home page. They have very well thought out trade ideas, very few come to pass, but very few trade ideas from anyone come to pass. I just hope that Cuban and Donnie are reading DB.com, because they really have a finger on the pulse of what the Mav's are doing and ideas on what they should do (and have a shot at doing) to improve. He gets an A+ from me. Please tell me if you know a better outlet for Mavs news and analysis.

lol fisher.
I would not be surprised if Fisher is under Cuban's payroll.
If cuban can pay Dampier 10+mill per year, he can pay his own personal ass kisser.
