He probably wasn't even talking about JET. JET was far from spectacular but he was still, sadly, the best guard on the team.

The Lakers were simply the better team tonight. We'll have to be at a 110% in a playoff matchup against LA if they continue to play the the kind of game they've been playing ever since the All-Star break.

SOFT.
these fairies aren't doing anything this year, and most likely exiting in the first round again. i wouldn't hire carlisle to manage a dairy queen. don't even reply to this, i'm pissed off and going to bed
also, in b4, "we played bad and barely lost" we were dominated in every aspect of the game

Somehow the team was in a position to steal one. Carlisle again mismanaging the rotations.

We got pounded inside.
Lakers defense was everywhere, we couldn't get a good look throughout the game.
I don't blame Terry for missing that, tough shot to be fair. Would've liked it if Carlisle planned out better. Poor execution overall.
On the break, 3 on 1, we go outside to take a three. Come on man, drive to the basket for gods sake.

It´s not about the last shot from Terry, the guards were just bad:
Roddy awful, Terry terrible (nice words...), Barea with some passes my Grandmother can do better, Kidd was not good but also not worse.
If Brian Cardinal is in your rotation and plays meaningful minutes you have no reason to be upset with the loss...
BTW: Kudos to Marion, great game and nice to see Kobe chucking up shots like always but misses more often than hitting.
If Dirk makes more of the easy ones at the beginning it goes a different direction.

Rick really blew it with his rotations in the 4th. How the hell do you have Brian Cardinal and Barea in the game with 3 something minutes left and Dirk and Terry on the bench.
Dirk has to shoot it there instead of trying to pass to TC.
Jet HAS to make that shot.
That was depressing.
edit: Roddy was horrible too.

Dirk and Marion 50pts, 22reb, 6ast, 4blocks
Chandler-- some decent defense
everyone else was a big bucket of nothing. Makes you with we had a guy like Butler

JJB&Roddy looked rattled- in over their heads. Kidd looked old, mostly. Jet never got on track. Can't win in this league w/out steady guard play.

Puzzling, to be sure. Just puzzling.
Look, I'm down with the "Brian Cardinal is a tough vet" vibe. That's cool. He will lay a guy like Barnes out under the basket. I love that. But it doesn't mean he should play 17 minutes.
Plus, I'm pretty sure Brewer is tough too. And younger. And more athletic. And just all-around better (unless your primary concern is perimeter shooting).

Wasted double doubles from Dirk and Trix each. Please, Cardinal MAX 10 minutes in the playoffs!

I'm not that stressed about this loss. The Mavs got almost no production from their guards, Chandler played a meh game and Cardinal played 17 minutes for some reason and they were still right there to the end.
Cardinal playing 17 minutes really pisses me off though. Why does Brewer have a good game vs the Knicks and then Carlisle plays Cardinal over him? What does Cardinal do better than Brewer? It baffles me.

It is. It was by no means a wide open layup, as some of you are making it out to be. The biggest problem is that he caught it facing away from the basket, and had to spin around to shoot it. I think that movement made him shoot it a little bit farther than he needed to (and remember he's shooting it 14-15 feet in the air so that no one can get to it), and as a result, it caught front rim and rolled out. And that's the thing...7 or 8 times out of 10 that shot just hits backboard and goes back in.
He could have used glass. It wasn't the sexiest angle, but the angle was there.
Not excusing him, because a starting veteran guard in the NBA who wants to be the secondary scoring option should convert every single open shot within 5-6 of the basket. Still, it was no layup.

I could see if Cardinal had to guard Gasol, but most of the night he was guarding Matt Barnes. Brewer can stick Barnes so use Corey.

Dirk played 37, Kidd played 33, Marion played 35, and Chandler played 35.
Perhaps the rotations themselves could have been handled better, but minute wise, everyone got a high amount.

I think he'll get 38-42. This isn't the playoffs though. If you want him playing that many then, you've got to play him less now.
edit: Its the Boston plan. Did they get criticized for it, ignored for it, seen as inferior for it? Yes, they did. Everyone called them done. You all saw the playoffs though.

Hey Jet maybe you shouldn't have left Blake open for the 3 for no reason when you're only down 2 and the Lakers just saw Kobe get injured. That was the game right there.

Tough loss. For my part I thought the Mavs were outplaying the Lakers for much of the game, and the primary culprit in the loss was a whole, whole lot of quality looks not falling for Dallas. It's a credit to the way they played in other phases of the game (and to Dirk and Marion's strong performances) that they had a chance to get the win at the end.

So the Mavs got 4 teamfouls on the Lakers with 10:02 to go in the 4th and shot their first FT with 2:00 left after an loose ball foul from the Lakers...
That is just soft!

it wasnt easy but he makes that shot 9 outta 10. he just fears shotblockers, he doesnt have the balls to go into the defender. thats a huge problem, his transition pull-ups are ridicolous...

in something of a foreshadowing JJB has taken a real step back lately. if he cant be relied upon in the playoffs we're screwed anyways. not pulling off the deal for Devin is hurting about now. maybe more than missing Caron.

Yeah, I'm not excusing him. He needs to make that shot. In that situation, though, that's the shot he needs to take. At 6'2", if he has a look at an open floater, then I'd prefer that. Especially since he had no momentum. His transition pull ups irk me too, but that floater there was the right call.
