Postgame: Nuggets at Mavs - Tery and the refs
Is there a player worse than Terry right now in the NBA?
5 vs. 8, hard to win!
Stevenson needs to start, the defense looked good when he was on the floor, Roddy provides nothing!

Stevenson shot 0-3 in 5 minutes. All of our guards suck right now...

(FWIW, I liked Cad's PGT better, but this one has the replies.)

Worst backcourt in the NBA.
Dirk/Matrix/Haywood: 19-31, 36 rebounds.
Terry/JJB/Roddy/DeShawn (Spare Unit): 12-32, 14 assists to 13 turnovers.
What a worthless bunch of scrubs. Before anyone ever tries to point the figure at why the Mavs suck, just stop and look at their backcourt. That's it.

if Rick Carlisle doesn't insert himself into the starting lineup by Friday, this team is going nowhere.

Remember the ritual Jet does where he wears the opposing teams shorts the night before we play them? I think it's confused him what team he plays for, since he keeps helping the other team win.

All of our guards suck. They really do. They'll almost certainly be the reason the Mavs don't advance if it comes to that.

What are your comments on Kidd not playing? Think he would have provided something different?

I would usually not consider myself to be a Roddy nuthugger...but why the hell did Carlisle sub JJ back in?
He did a pretty good job at the end - including a crucial steal + foul to tie up the game...
PS:
Our guard play in general is beyond laughable

Roddy was awful tonight, worse than Barea, Terry. All had a couple good plays but the stats don't lie.

He was subbing offense for defense since Roddy no longer knows how to score. Would have put Roddy on JR though.

This team is the saddest in the NBA. No team has so much money invested in so much talent for so much fail. Kidd is terrible. Terry is terrible. Roddy is too young (and may never be an NBA point). Our PG position is so bad that we cant play decent all-around guys like Stevenson and Brewer according to Carlisle.
It wouldnt be that bad if it was just Cuban's money but this team wastes so much talent and has showed so much potential only to end up the laughingstock of the entire NBA. Going from .800 to start the season to .471 over the last 16.
If we played this poorly (.471) the whole season we'd be the 12th seed in the West. How does that happen? How can a team go from contending for best in the league to playing like they are a longshot at even making the playoffs?
I just dont get it and I am incredibly frustrated. This is my team but I just cant watch anymore. Its just too much.

everything is fine! nothing to see here! Jason Kidd is 21 years old! We have the best backcourt in the history of basketball! Dirk Nowitzki is playing on the best team he's ever been on! Bob Ortegal is still commentating games and whacking off afterwards! Everything is okay!

Terry should have been gone after the gs series in 2007....or at least had his role diminished. The FO is just as much to blame.

I just wish that Dirk had some hidden gem in his contract that allows him to opt out of his contract (a clause that has not been published in the news, but as an agreement between him and Cuban/Donnie, that if things do not improve this season, he can leave). He does not deserve this...
I admit I was suckered into Roddy mania...I really did think he was going to be someone special, but he is only a ghost of himself from last season. Where did his shooting go? Even during the first five games back from his injury he looked good. Did Carlisle just sap his confidence that badly, or is this the real Roddy?

Again....15 points on 50% shooting. I'm not gonna give the guy a medal, especially considering his poor turnovers, but there have been so, so many games where he's deserved so much more criticism than this one.
And note that I was even criticizing him in the GDT, but he played a better than both of our starting guards and he is getting unrelentingly railed?

After a good stretch of decent defensive performances we're heading into the wrong direction once again. Not having all our players in the lineup certainly doesn't help. Consistency a huge part again tonight. We had two better and two horrible quarters. In the 4th we couldn't get any stops. Although Dirks PER is o.k. he was the worst players in Individual ON/OFF-Efficiencies the second game in a row. That just cannot happen. He had 7 (?) FGA in the first half where the team needed him the most. Don't know if thats the teams strategy, but I said it last game and I will say it again: He doesn't provide the leadership he should right now.
Best example for me was a fastbreak off Roddys turnover which he 'converted' into an totally unnecessary And1 and then yelled at somebody (Roddy, Ref ... dunno). Can't happen. The And1 was on him ... take it wit chew.
Bright spots of the game surely were Haywood and Brewer. Especialy Brewer does not deserve his ON/OFF-Effs. He provided energy in the first half where the team needed it, but somehow nobody followed his example and picked up the play.
I don't know where Stevenson is heading, but he deserves no playing time at all right now. Gotta give him that we played our best defense in the first 5 minutes of the game where he was on the floor. Roddy another disapointment.

Mavs are just 10-13 when Shawn Marion starts after tonight's home loss to Denver.

Gotta think that's mostly because Marion has been more likely to start when guys are injured. But maybe there's some causal link there? Dunno.

Backcourt is awful. That's what happens when your starting 2 guard gets injured and your other starting 2 guards is injured half the year...

Terry and Kidd both. I dont think its either player's fault either. They are playing the best they can, but a team can't win with a backcourt this bad.
Carlisle too is playing the veterans "to win now" instead of developing the young guys to contribute tomorrow. He's getting pushed to win so he goes with the vets. The vets just really arent any good.
What needs to happen is the Mavs need to go into this post-season after a 4-5 game first round exit) and mortgage everyone not named Dirk for a decent backcourt and then re-sign Chandler. We have a GREAT core 3-5. Even Stevenson/Brewer can hold down the 2/3 well. We just arent going anywhere without someone new at the 1/2. They dont have to be spectacular-- they just have to be able to create a play or penetrate and create movement. I'd hate to give up the 3-5 players but if its necessary I'd rather have Dirk, Chandler and a PG with scrubs than Marion, Butler, Haywood, et al. with no playmaking.
What is more likely is Cuban looks to save money by letting Chandler walk, keeping Terry/Kidd for another year and feeling flush with excitement when he signs Nash for a vet minimum year.

Kidd would have been fine in a backup role for years now, but everyone was too stubborn to admit it. Terry also should've had his role reduced, instead of a 6th man or starter, he should have become a 7th or 8th man. Those guys just can't be relied on.
Edit- I doubt Cubes will let TC walk, he'll probably just overpay him instead.
