He hit a three, but his defense on Bryant was alot like Batum's defense on Dirk. Both Kobe and Dirk feel unstoppable against them.
I like Marion on Kobe the most of any matchup we have on him. As far as things Carlisle did, I liked his late 3rd and fourth quarter play calling ALOT> He seemed to really be in a groove keeping the lakers defense off balance, getting alot of good offensive situations for all our players.

I'll take that look any time.
If every game in this series came down to Kobe shooting a three with 2 seconds left, we win in five.

I think Tyson was pretty mediocre tonight (only noting since you posted his stat line).
Haywood, Terry, Brewer, Peja and, yes, JJB were very good tonight.
Kidd was big at the end.
Marion will struggle all series, like I mentioned. As long as he plays good D...just don't bother trying to ISO him too much.
DeShawn was awful on BOTH ends. Brewer better start Game 2 (I said he should have started going into the playoffs).
I'm a lot more confident in JJB this series as long as they keep Blake on him and not a bigger guard.
Oh yeah...Dirk is a fucking beast. 14 rebounds, game high. What big LA frontline?

How can you say Tyson was mediocre when Gasol and Bynum combine for 23 and 16 on 52.3% True Shooting Percentage in 65 minutes of play?
Bynum in particular was absolutely invisible except for a couple of easy baskets when Dirk got knocked off by a pick and Haywood got lost around the three point line once.

Bynum was shut down by Wood, not Tyson. Tyson did play very good defense down the stretch on Pau. Honestly, LA didn't go to Pau and Bynum very much at all. Maybe mediocre isn't fair...I just didn't think he was great. He was also -6 to Wood's +6.

Bynum didn't even play half his minutes against Haywood and I've already rattled off that two of his four baskets that came while Haywood was in the game. So I'm not sure how Haywood gets most of the credit. Haywood played well, but he's not the whole story here.

Well I thought Haywood played better defense than Tyson when he was in the game. That's how I saw it. +6 seems to indicate something to that effect. Didn't say it was the whole story. Tyson was great on Pau down the stretch.

I think that stat is very deceptive. Chandler had the disavantage of playing on the floor with Stevenson. He also was on the floor when Kidd was playing bone head ball. When the subs came in is when the Mavs started playing better as a team and that had less to do with Haywood than it did with the players on the floor with him basically the guard play who did not turn it over like the starters did. All in all until the end of the game Kidd had a very bad ball control game. If you looked at the plus minus at on point in the game Dirk had the best +- at - 2. the rest of the starters were at about -11. Chandler always plays with the starters.
As to Brewer at least he was challenging Kobe's shots and was not allowing him totally open 3pt looks as some of the other mav defenders were early on. I thought pulling out Stevenson and replacing him with Brewer was a key move. I sort of hope they put him on the inactive. He has totally been worthless recently especially on defense.

I actually agree on Tyson somewhat. I think Bynum got the same looks he usually does against Tyson, he just didn't convert. I think Haywood should be out there on Bynum as much as possible. Also, you're right Stevenson was completely useless. He provided terrible defense and offense. We have to give his minutes to Brewer.

Just pretty good? It was lock down. Especially considering all of the Laker fans were saying Bynum would eat Chandler for breakfast and it was the exact opposite.

I don't understand how people are already up in arms on the Pau call. He jumped over his back and hit his head. It was an easy call and retarded foul.

Steve Kerr was silly about it, the TNT crew saw it for the easy foul call it was.

Kenny cliche fail. "What do you give a man that has everything? How can you criticize a coach with so many championships?"
