2012-13 Regular Season Thread
Just thought we could have a stream of consciousness thread here....
In the season opener, Anderson Varejao posted a 9/23/9 line against the Wizards.

When will Rondo get more respect than Kobe? Guy is the real deal.

I'd settle for Rondo getting as much respect as Chris Paul. I think Rondo's the best PG in the league and I think he's widening the gap.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy with Wade... just a shame that Rondo didn't follow through all of the way and take him down.

Agree, LHD.
Looking like both are deserving of their deals.

Josh Smith getting boo´d again in the first game of the season. He hates the Atlanta crowd and they hate him.
Wouldnt be surprise about a deadline trade because no way in hell he stays there (next summer UFA).
And with the thin FA market he is one of the bigger FA

Chris Paul only made 3 FGs. Had 27 points. (he was 19-20 FT)
chippy game
7 Technical Fouls: PLAYERS: 3 GOLDEN STATE ( D Lee 1, C Landry 1, J Jack 1 ), 4 LACLIPPERS ( B Griffin 1, D Jordan 1, C Paul 1, M Barnes 1 )

I have never seen Josh Smith get boo'd just groaned at when he takes jumpers. It is said he loves the moves ATL made in offseason and wants to stay long term.

Eh Paul is still better offensively and the greatness of rondos d is overstated. I know this will get me killed but I'd take Westbrook

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story...ated-defenders
Quote:
Rondo is known for his long arms and massive hands, both of which have helped him pile up 843 career steals going into the 2012-13 season (which ranks second only to Chris Paul over the same six-year period). While those steals-related stats are impressive, there's evidence that Rondo's overall defensive impact hasn't lived up to his All-Defense reputation for several years.
Rondo's career counterpart PER of 15.6 doesn't tell the tale of an elite on-ball defender, and plus/minus data show a decline in performance within the team concept as well. Over Rondo's first four NBA seasons, the Celtics were 2.2 points of defensive rating better with him on the floor, including an incredible 8.3-point difference during Rondo's rookie season of 2006-07. Since the start of the 2010-11 season, however, that number has been flipped; over the past two seasons, Boston was actually 2.1 points per 100 possessions better when Rondo wasn't in the game.
The emergence of backup point guard Avery Bradley -- who posted a young-Rondo-esque minus-4.4 on/off defensive differential last year -- is certainly a mitigating circumstance, but like Noah, Rondo's plus/minus numbers aren't impressive even after accounting for the "good defensive backup" factor. According to regularized adjusted plus/minus, Rondo ranked tied for No. 46 among guards last season (in terms of defense), a far fall from the second-place ranking he held early in his career.
|
Not to meantion his inefficiency and his constantly leading bad offenses. Hands down the most overrated PG in the league. CP3 is miles better.

Kobe told he has a new target and wants to play until 40. Well, for me that was pretty obvious because he wanna break those alltime records and beat Jordan.
But im wondering if Dwight want to be Kobes b*tch for the next six years.
Dwight topic may need a bump soon

The Lakers are 1-4. Somewhere on her knees in a Vegas hotel, Kim K is wondering how it was possible for anyone to suck harder than her.

LOL I really need to get twitter.
Also, it was such a sweet feeling going to NBA.com and seeing the Clippers mopped the floor with the Spurs.

New game plan agains the Thunder:
Deny Durant the ball, dont let Martin too open and watch Westbrick fail...
Good luck going against the Spurs or in the finals against Boston or the Heat...

Royce White is bigger mess than Delonte West and the Rockets blew their #16 pick.
Should have picked Zeller, considering they were allready stockpiling tweener forwards anyway

As much as I don't like the Spurs, F the Lakers, that was one sweet 3 by Green to get the win.

Again, whats the problem with this idiot Tjarks? Everytime i see a column written by him it includes trashing/downplaying the success of the Mavs, specially Dirk.
Now this crap, again between the lines trying to lift Gasol pretty much over Dirk
http://basketball.realgm.com/article.../Big_Men_Pairs
Best parts:
Quote:
That was the main problem in Dallas for almost a decade: since Dirk Nowitzki has always been a defensive sieve, that left protecting the basket to slow-footed lumberers like Erick Dampier and Brendan Haywood
|
sieve...okay.jpg
Quote:
The biggest difference between Pau Gasol and Dirk Nowitzki isn’t what they do on the court; it’s the type of players you can put next to them. Nowitzki, the best scoring 7’0 in the game, and Gasol, one of the most versatile 7’0 in the NBA, are both future Hall of Famers, but Gasol’s ability to do almost everything on the court allows many more types of big men to be successful next to him.
|
Quote:
Odom’s game has declined over the last two years not just because he’s no longer in shape but because he has yet to find a big man partner as compatible as Gasol.
|
I have to apologize to Odom. It wasnt his fault, it was Dirks fault. Wrong skillset, so Odom had no chance to play up to his potential in Dallas

If somebody wants to argue that Pau's a better choice at center than Dirk, I'm fine with that. Arguing that Pau does more to make life easy for his teammates than Dirk, that non-traditional front-court types can't have success playing with Dirk (KVH and Bass much?), or that anyone other than Odom is to blame for the worthless $#!t-sucking piece of trash he turned into...that's all just retarded.

New Orleans. Only needed one point to seal it, but Terry missed a technical right before Barea bricked his two.
