Yes, let's.
Looking forward to Calderon finally getting out of this early shooting funk.
More Ellis/Dirk two man game, please.

Mavs favored by 8.5, which is pretty awesome (though you'd expect it'd be something near a pick-em if Kobe were playing).

This game is definitely one we can win. Sure, we can't afford to play sloppy either. Otherwise, we could be on the losing side. But if the guys focus, they definitely have the strength to beat LA. Pau can't guard Dirk. They backcourt is likely even worse defensively than ours. Calderon and especially Monta should have a field day vs. Nash and Blake. Crash the boards and we should win this.

So you're saying easy win, right?

Lakers are 2-2 and definitely not elite talent anymore and won't be when Kobe returns, but they are still dangerous. Gotta defend and rebound. If we do, win.

Unless they go in there overconfident and underestimate the team, Mavs should win this one. But it isn't going to be a cakewalk. Gasol is averaging a double double (15.8 PPG/11 RPG) and some of their young talent is actually looking decent.
Also, the Mavs have a particularly grueling schedule this week playing 4 games in 5 nights. Considering the Thunder matchup tomorrow, we may see some minutes being managed for Dirk (and maybe Marion, Carter, and Dalembert). Given how early we are in the season and the relatively weak matchup, I wouldn't be surprised to see some additional minutes from the bench and even a little burn for the third stringers. This stretch of games is where we could really use Wright to allow Dirk a little more rest. Can't wait until he returns (rumor that there's some positive news coming by this weekend).

Lakers look better than I thought even without Kobe
Mavs should beat these guys if we play smart and take care of the basketball, rebound, and stay out of foul trouble.
Oh scoring more points than the Lakers would help too.

If the guys stay focused, then yes Which means to defend and crash the boards.

Lakers
25th in opp. eFG%
24th in defense
25th in 3pt defense
10th in opp. FT attempts
20th in eFG%
23rd in FG%
9th in 3pt FG%
11th in fast break points
10th in opp. pts off of Laker TOs
16th in Reb%
20th in TOs
Dallas
20th in opp. eFG%
21st in FG defense
8th in 3pt FG defense
30th (worst in league) at opp. FTA
12th in eFG%
13th in FG%
11th in 3pt FG%
9th in fast break points
14th in opp. pts from Mav TOs
23rd in Reb%
23rd in TO per game
Keep em off the boards and minimize fouls and we should be good. We have a better defense and a better offense than the Lakers and our offense should look even better against a bad defensive team. We just foul WAY too much (although we may not be off the charts had it not been for hack-a-Dwight).
They have a solid edge in rebounding and opponent FTAs. We have an advantage in almost everything else.

Nash has looked absolutely done. Honestly don't know if he'll make it through the year.
Xavier Henry has looked like a nice pick-up, though.

Let's hope Calderon wipes the sharts out of his undies tonight. He can't continue shooting like garbage forever. I hope he returns to form sooner rather than later.
The good news is we are playing good ball and will only get better when Calderon comes on.

Problem is that the Lakers need Nash. They might not win 25 games if they go with just Blake and Farmar.

Revenge on Kaman! Can't believe that schmuck is all of a sudden showing hustle, but never did it with us. All he did was take moronic shots while ball hogging.

That one always cracks me up (especially now that he's not a Mav anymore). That clip should be the Mavs' official response to Kaman's comments about Rick to the media today. Could you be any more out of touch with your own abilities?

Seriously, this is so annoying with Gasol. You can breath on him below the basket and he screams like being shot. This vocal flopping should be penalized.

Today's the last day of the free trial for international league pass - just in case one of you internationals is watching on firstrow.
