Default More Roster Additions Coming?

Mavs currently only have 12 healthy bodies on full NBA contracts.

Are we comfortable only having the two-way contracts of Reeves and Cleveland as the last line of reinforcements, or will there be one or two more additions? From what I have read, rosters can be as large as 17 in Orlando.

Any rumors out there of anyone else the MBT is looking at?

They can't sign anyone else. They can only sign people if a player sits out due to the bubble.

@MFFL They won't cut Lee though. Luka and him get along too well.

Aren't we capped out on roster spots? Only way we sign someone is if we cut someone. I doubt that.

Anyone else concerned about having only 3 guys over 6’7 on the roster?

Not for a team that isn't a contender to go all the way. We're a team just looking to make it to the playoffs and win a couple of games. That's it. We don't need finals insurance (yet).

Whether your competing for the playoffs or not you should still have enough size to balance out your roster

Why put yourself in that situation where smaller guys can get worn down nightly trying to defend and bang with bigger players?

That can be viewed as poor roster management or poor construction of the roster

And the risk factor if any one of those 3 go down for a game or two and the impact that could have.
Seems that risk could have easily been mitigated by signing an unemployed legit big instead of Burke.
Now I'm a Burke fan, and thought he was a good fit when he was here the first time, but an insurance big would have seemed to have been a more logical addition.

What bigger players? The league is small as heck right now so I'd love to see some metric to defend what you are spouting. The average PF is a little over 6'8" and the overall average for players overall is 6'6.5"

We have Kleber (6'11"), KP (7'3"), Boban (7'3") who can all defend the center spot (and Kleber can defend the 1-2 big PFs in the league. With so many small PFs, only Kleber can really slide down to the 4 and a three-man rotation with guys capable of 20-30 minutes is more than enough.

The average PF has been falling and is currently around 6'8" and we have a lot of guys that size. DFS (6'8"), Doncic (6'8"), Jackson (6'7"), and MKG (6'6") can all defend both forward spots without giving up much height.

The problem with this team isn't height. It's overall talent and that's not really something worth complaining about since we have absolutely nothing we can do about it. Free agency is over until the offseason. Trades are over. We can't add a player, draft a player, or trade for a player until the offseason.

Enjoy the Mavs or don't. I personally like them for what they are.

I don’t understand why the Mavs didn’t just go out and get LeBron, because then Anthony Davis would have wanted to come to Dallas. They could have drafted Giannis, I guess, but who wants a skinny Euro, when a big strong Dwight Howard is available if you can just eek out a few hundred thousand to entice him.
