Default Movement of players in the draft and a new projected pick for us.

Here's some notes from the newest NBAdraft.net mock:

Our new projected pick:

Sasha Vujacic
Birthdate: 3/8/84
NBA Position: Point Guard
Ht: 6-7
Wt: 193
European Team: Snaidero Udine
Hometown: Maribor, Slovenia
Euroleague Profile
TeleBasket Profile
2002 Euro U-20 Profile

Big European guard in the mold of Marko Jaric, Jiri Welsch, and Zoran Planinic. Less quick and explosive than Welsch and Jaric, but potentially a better fit for the PG spot. Can really shoot and pass. He just moved to the PG position, so he is still adapting to running a team. He has adequate ballhandling and great size. A good shooter who will become a great shooter at the PG position. He's unselfish enough to be a good PG, but for now he doesn't have the PG understanding, controlling the tempo, the timing, the knack of a PG. He definitely is a much better shooter than Planinic. He has the talent to become a great one because he really has amazing court vision. Already runs the pick-and-roll quite well. Has great passing instincts and he's a solid team player. His defense is solid and his feet are quick. He's got great all around skills, rebounds well, good ball delivery. Very good defensive player, quick legs.

Weaknesses: He still needs to learn everything about the PG position. A great person but maybe too shy. Not a real specimen type. He's not so quick, or explosive, or physical. He must work a lot on his body. His shooting is an area to improve, it's decent, but right now it's inconsistant. Jiri Welsch is 10 times more explosive than him.

Notes: Nickname is Sasha
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Playmaker close to the two meters, Sasha is one of those players who leaves your mouth open with his fantastic plays. Handles the ball very adeptly. He's ambidexterous with the dribble and pass, and excells driving to the basket with both hands. Has instincts for the basket, drive and dish, He is a master in making clutch shots and has range. Above all he is a player who plays fearlessly. He still must learn the art of playmaking but he has innate leadership skills. He loves to get teammates involved. He has a great attitude and does not have a tendency to hold onto the ball too much. He must improve his outside accuracy, which will require hours of practice, but the makings are there. Not an explosive player. On defense he knows how to defend one-on-one and put pressure on the ball but suffers from lack of physical strength especially on the blocks. He's a special player. Strengths: Ball handling, creativity, penetration. Drawbacks: Physical strength, shooting from outside, experience. Overall: A top prospect in Italy and one of the more interesting of Europe.

-Cristian Biagini

Here's some notable movement:

Lampe up to #5
Kaman down to #8
Diaw at #23
Beasley down to #30
Brian Cook down to #36
Malick Badiane down to #37 (this will change...he's on the way up)
Kendrick Perkins at #41
James Lang is sliding badly to #47 (after measuring at 6'8")
Troy Bell at #49 and rising.
Charlie Villanueva at #53 (and falling further, IMO)
Luke Walton has fallen off their board.

Anyone for a minor trade to get an early to mid second rounder ?

I don't know that I'd do it...but some pretty decent big men "projects" may well be around...lots of PG's and Euros are going in the first round.

I thought Walton was putting on a hell of a performace at the Chicago camp. I know I wouldn't mind spending a second rounder on the man.

Mad, Walton IS starting to get everyone'sattention....but he's still not ranked highly. guess he's got a ways to go after a sub-par college season. And, he's gotten that dreaded "tweener" label. I'll keep everyone updated.

hey OP looks like they just changed our pick to Travis Outlaw......

Travis Outlaw
Birthdate: 9/18/84
NBA Position: Small Forward
College: Mississippi St.
Class: HS Senior
Ht: 6-9
Wt: 195
Hometown: Starkville, MS
High School: Starkville

NBA Comparison: Darius Miles

Strengths: The epitome of a physical specimen. Athleticism is what sets Outlaw apart from other players. A phenomenal leaper. He’s rumored to be able to touch the top of the backboard. Runs the floor faster than most guards. Exceptional quickness and a large wingspan enable him to be a defensive stopper. An excellent shot-blocker who elevates off the floor quickly. His stroke is coming on and could potentially make him a leathal player down the road

Weaknesses: His understanding of the game is not there yet. Shot is still inconsistent but it has improved dramatically since his sophopmore year. Must play to his strengths and not always settle for the outside shot. At 6-9 and 195 lbs. weight and strength is obviously an issue. Must make better decisions with the ball. Can get caught using his athleticism solely to beat guys, and this will not suffice in the NBA.

doesnt sound too bad...
an amazingly athletic SF who can defend, block shots, run the floor, and with the "phenomenal leaper" comment sounds like he can rebound

looks like all he needs is a little teaching, experience, and lifting

The Kid is 6'9 and isn't even 200 pounds? That tells me on one hand he probably runs the court like a gazelle and can leap tall buildings ina single bound. On the other, you might have to tie a 10 pound weight to his leg in case a strong gust of wind carries him away.

Sounds like an interesting choice. I like what they say about his athleticism. The weight could be an issue. Assuming the Mavs went with him, I don't think it would be a problem to get him in the weight room. If the Mavs are looking at someone that will help more 2 years from now, he could add the weight, work on his shot and learn under the other players and coaches.

I'm not comparing them talent wise as I don't know anything about this guy, but it made me think of Krililenko. Tall, athletic, but skinny as a rail.

Wish I knew what his attitude and work ethic was like.

The Miles comparison makes me want to puke. In today's NBA, you MUST be able to shoot. If you can't, you don't need to be on the floor. I don't think the Mavs would pick this guy in a million years. The Nelsons know there is more to the game of basketball than the ability to jump high. If he has nothing but jumping ability (which this scouting report seems to imply), he will get eaten alive in the NBA. This is exactly the kind of player I hope the Mavs avoid like the plague.

Walton has jumped to #44 on the strength of his workouts in Chicago !
