We're talking about right now... not where Green could be 3 years from now.
You're a fool if you'd play Green over Howard right now. I'm not saying they can't both find playing time, because I'm on the record saying Green should be getting a lot of playing time, but let's not go overboard.

right now, yeah.
but by the end of the season - if Josh is doing the half-time disappearance thing, and Green is looking half-way decent, then I tell Josh, "hey Mr All Star Alternate, how would you like to head up the second unit or go home?"

comments like this make me wish we had some sort of a "reputation" system.

Yeah, but he's not talking about playing Green over JHO. He's talking about in the 2nd half of the game or late in game.
I see no reason, why Green isn't our starting SG and why he wouldn't be in the game late, JEt can hit some big shots and that can be argued, but Green can finish strong or get to the foul line and give us such a boost in that area. I thin kit would be a huge phsycological boost if he were to get a huge nasty dunk late in the game to help us win. Refreshing.

I thought this is part of why we brought Kidd in... to be THE MAN.
Right now he's the only Mav playing really well. He's doing his job on the court. Instead of Dirk calling everyone out, he should have been the one to do it the other day.

I think people are getting away from the original question posed in this thread. Dirk is obviously the most talented player on this team. Kidd was brought in to shake things up and take pressure off of Dirk/everyone else on offense. We didn't have motion in the offense. Kidd was not brought in to take the tough shots in the 4th. He is not that kind of guy. Dirk is unstoppable when he's in his groove, Kidd is very stoppable offensively. Josh is also easily bottled up in the 4th. If he could dramatically change his 4th quarter game, he coooould be the man. He could at least take a huge burden off of Dirk.
Dirk's main problem now is not really his fault. We can't pull double/triple teams away from him often enough. I fully believe Dirk is as talented as anyone in the L, but what we have seen recently is an athletic guard can really propel a team based on the current rules in the L. Gerald Green has countless offensive weapons. He has athleticism to will his way past and sometimes over defenders. He is definitely far from being "the man." However, he does have a fire in his game that Dirk doesn't play with until the playoffs. Dirk also loses his fire in some big games if he is defended well or his shot is off. Gerald looks like he has the mindset to rip someones heart out, squeeze all the blood out, and gulp it all down. This could easily be because he's trying to stay in the league and if he doesn't make it with us, he may not make it. Buuuut that is the attitude "the man" needs to have. If Dirk can show that attitude all the way through the playoffs and Green or JHo can step up enough to pull defenders away from Dirk ALL GAME, then Dirk can be The Man. Otherwise, Dirk does not get the respect that athletic guards get to really put the team on his back regardless of how poorly everyone else is playing. That is not Dirk's fault.

The creator of this thread obviously didn't watch any of the 06-07 season.
